2007 LP Candidates

How to help financially

NY* The Libertarian Party is fielding two candidates for City of Rochester School Board this year. Check out the websites of our candidates Christopher Edes and Max Kessler.

NY* Libertarian Estelle Edwards is running for Suffolk Country Executive. Suffolk County residents have to pay an extraordinary amount of taxes, so her message is being received well. Join the Suffolk County LP YahooGroup for information on her campaign progress and how to help.

NY* Bill Schmidt, Candidate for Peekskill Mayor, was endorsed by LPNY at its state convention and will have the Libertarian Party name next to his on the ballot, among other parties. For more information about him and to get in touch to help with his campaign, please see Peekskill Perspectives.

NY* Jon Levine was endorsed by the State Committee as the LPNY candidate for mayor of Ardsley, although he will not be on the ballot as a Libertarian. Read his Open Letter to the People of Ardsley

NY* Friend of the LP Warren Redlich is running for the Town Board of Guilderland. See his campaign website for more info, and watch an interview on Guiderland issues and other subjects on the 'Capitol Outsider' with Eric Sundwall of the Capital LP, whose petitions Warren helped defend in 2006.

NY* In addition, the Suffolk County Libertarian Organization has cross-endorsed the following candidates:
County Legislator:John Bugler (Town of Islip)
Town Councilman:John Grey (Town of Smithtown)
Receiver of Taxes:Lou Marcoccia (Town of Brookhaven)
Highway Superintendent:Martin Haley (Town of Brookhaven)

Please offer them your encouragement, and let us know if you are interested in running as a Libertarian this year or in the future.

Your vote for them is appreciated!

Also note that you can now enroll with the Board of Elections as a Libertarian! Please print out forms and ask your libertarian-leaning friends and neighbors to change their enrollment.

Candidates Wanted!

Please give us a heads-up if you are interested in running for any sort of position as a Libertarian.

Please join our list for candidate development if you are interested in running or managing a Libertarian campaign.

For statewide candidates, nomination is made at our convention. If the district in question is entirely outside of any county represented by a chapter, then it is the state committee who needs to make the endorsement, otherwise it is any and all chapters contained within the district.

Join your local LPNY chapter to ask for help, or contact us to start one up if there isn't one yet.

School Board Elections
NYC School Board elections were cancelled in 2002, and the Mayor took over administration of the district.

If you're interested in running or campaigning for the school board elsewhere, please join the lp-school-board mailing list to discuss the challenges with Libertarians across the country.
