LIBERTARIANS SUGGEST HEVESI RESIGN & NEUTRAL CORRUPTION FIGHTER REPLACE COMPTROLLER
Albany, NY 10/27/06 Libertarian Party State Chair Richard Cooper calls for resignation of State Comptroller Alan Hevesi and his replacement by Libertarian candidate John Cain of Congers in Rockland County. Cooper asks about Republican and Democratic candidates for the powerful finance position, “How can one of them watch them? I read that Hevesi has not audited Spitzer’s office. Libertarian John Cain offers a neutral viewpoint between the warring factions in Albany. Let’s raise Cain now and on Election Day.” Cain’s assessment “In the recent debate (to which no 3rd party candidates were invited) Mr. Hevesi claimed he needed to have his wife chauffeured around because of threats he received. This is the height of arrogance. Over one hundred thousand men and women are facing far greater threats every day in Iraq and Afghanistan. As far as I know, none of them has asked for a chauffeur.”
John Cain, who was offered a bribe when on the Clarkstown Planning Board, wore a wire for investigators and exposed political corruption in Rockland County. What would Cain do in office? "I would question not just the numbers but the ideas behind the state and local government taxes, spending and borrowing. In particular, I would question the slippery numbers and assumptions put forth for eminent domain abuse schemes. If elected, my primary goal would be to work with an elected Libertarian governor to prevent the state from expending any funds to use the power of eminent domain to take the property of its citizens and turn it over to private enterprise groups. Never underestimate the web of intrigue that a bloated government has created.”
Besides Cain, the statewide Libertarian candidates are Jeffrey Russell for US Senate, John Clifton for Governor, Donald Silberger for Lt. Governor, and Christopher Garvey for Attorney-General. –30-
